Guadalupe Masa from Barcelona invites the spectator to explore the universe of water. Water is the medium to express poetry, ancient wisdom and the harmonious presence of peace and emotion. River beds and coral reefs provide the inspiration for color and texture, expressed as little paths and valleys, giving Lupe's created world a sculptural quality. The erosion of water is represented as the erosion of matter through mystic experience. Working on both wood and hand made paper, color mass becomes lovely "windows" in the grouping of boxes with very "touchable" surfaces. Her paintings take on a sculptural quality that ties spirit and matter together. The goal of this soulful woman is for her audience to share her own spiritual journey through her work. Through the process of painting she seeks harmony, balance and beauty. Through the viewing, she helps us to approach the same experience.
Ms. Masa has exhibited in cities throughout the Mediterranean countries, and in the U.S. in galleries in Austin, TX & Chicago. She was featured as part of a 2004 exhibit entitled "Air, Earth, Water" at the Instituto Cervantes in Chicago.
