This artist from Valencia is a master in the creation of new techniques and all the possibilities color presents when placed on a surface. She works on paper -- each work an original -- mixing acrylic, ink, chalk, bits of paper or foil, like so many potions in a grand experiment to conjure up whatever color, line or texture she feels is called for at the moment. The act of painting flows from Amalia, pure, sincere, communicative, the consequence of an inevitable academic influence on her work. Ms. Martinez-Muñoz has multiple degrees and is a staff member of Universidad Politecnica of Valencia. A former chemist, she is an art history teacher and chairperson for the University's Research Dept., as well as an art critic and published writer, with numerous articles and books to her credit. She is current working on her 5th masters degree, in philosophy. All this research activity explains her will to become a real scientist of painting.
Amalia's work has been shown at galleries in Chicago and Miami, as well as throughout Spain. In 2004 she was featured as part of an exhibit entitled "Air, Earth, Water" at the Instituto Cervantes in Chicago. Her works are part of a magnificent permanent collection of contemporary art at the Ritz-Carlton Miami Beach.
