When Karen Scribano first saw the internet in action in the early 1990's, she was immediately intrigued and wanted to learn more. At the time, she was employed by Loyola University Chicago's School of Law as assistant director of admission, and her responsibilities included programming the office database and generating statistical reports in addition to the recruiting of new students through travel, marketing, and events planning. While she loved working on the computer and utilized the internet almost daily, she had little time to spend wondering about the inner workings of the Web.

She finally had an opportunity for some hands-on experience when a co-worker invited her to sit and watch how the department web pages were updated and loaded to a local server. Realizing that creating for the web was a perfect combination of her logic and problem-solving skills, her creative and artistic interests, and her love of the computer, Karen took several online courses in web design and web graphics. The Well-Wrought Web was launched in the spring of 2000 following the birth of her first child.

"I learn something new with every web site I create," says Karen, who operates the company from home on a part-time basis, "but I love the challenges associated with creating something wonderful and unique for each client." Karen holds a bachelor's in English from Iowa State University, and a master's of education from Loyola University Chicago.
