Sam began his professional life as a singer touring the South singing Gospel Music. He later began singing in night clubs in the Tampa Bay area, and his growing popularity drew "standing room only" crowds at local hot spots. Sam relocated to Los Angeles and immediately began performing at Marla Gibbs' Supper Club. Marla (of "The Jeffersons" TV show fame) quickly nicknamed Sam "Mr. Entertainment" because she said he had the "Total Package": punctuality, stage presence, attitude, interaction, and most importantly, great singing. Engagements along Hollywood's famed Sunset Strip and in Las Vegas soon followed.

Sam has performed from the Caribbean to the Far East. Success for him is measured in the smiles and applause received while performing. In 1996 he performed in the Chicago area and it was love at first sight. Since moving here, Sam & Co. has performed steadily throughout the Midwest. Performing as a 3-pc, 4-pc, 6-pc up to a 9-piece ensemble, as the event calls for, Sam and his band cover it all, from the classic 50s through soul greats of the 60s & 70s, through the disco era and contemporary R&B. Sam has but one rule: "Give 110%, regardless if the crowd is 2 or 2,000."
